Who restores fire and smoke damaged homes in Pacific Palisades?

LA Home Restorations restores homes in Pacific Palisades after fire, smoke and water damage, and rebuilds what the January 2025 Palisades Fire took. For a burned home we rebuild, from new framing to the final finishes. For a home that stood, we clean smoke and ash and handle water damage restoration when a leak shows up.

If your home stood, check the water next. LADWP issued a Do Not Drink notice for the Palisades on 10 January 2025 and lifted it in March 2025, asking residents to flush their pipes before use. A home that sat empty with the water off can hide a slow leak that only shows when the pressure comes back, so watch the water heater, the sinks and the ceilings under the bathrooms, and look in the attic and the vents, where smoke odor and fine ash often wait.

Some homes here are being rebuilt from the slab; others stood and need cleaning and repairs. Call (866) 396-7622, open 24 hours, and we will walk the property with you, room by room or lot by lot, and tell you what the work involves.

What is different about working in Pacific Palisades

The things a homeowner here would recognize, and why they matter after water, smoke or rain.

  • Sunset Boulevard and the Village

Sunset Boulevard is the main east-west road through Pacific Palisades, and the Village is centered at Sunset and Via de la Paz, below the hillside neighborhoods north of the road.

  • Five canyons through the community

Temescal, Rivas, Potrero, Rustic and Santa Ynez canyons all run through Pacific Palisades, and heavy rain can send water and debris down them.

  • Bluffs, highlands and the coast road

Castellammare sits on small bluffs close to sea level along Pacific Coast Highway, Via Bluffs and Huntington Palisades sit high above the ocean, and Palisades Highlands is in the upper part of Santa Ynez Canyon.

  • Hillside slopes north of Sunset

Marquez Knolls lies on the mountain slope north of Sunset Boulevard. Heavy rain can cause floods in the lowlands and mudslides in the hills, especially after wildfires strip the slopes.

  • The Palisades burn area in the forecast

LA County Public Works lists the Palisades burn area, including Pacific Palisades and its canyons, on its storm forecast page, so you can check it before a rain.

Fire history and rain risk in Pacific Palisades

The Palisades Fire started on 7 January 2025 and, according to CAL FIRE, burned 23,448 acres, destroyed 6,845 structures and damaged 975. Heavy rain on burned hillsides can bring mud and debris down the canyons.

LA County Public Works lists Pacific Palisades and Temescal, Rivas, Rustic and Santa Ynez canyons in its Palisades burn area, and in January 2025 a mudflow closed Palisades Drive. NOAA’s October outlook says a strong El Nino is likely this winter, with an over 83% chance. A strong El Nino does not guarantee heavy rain in Los Angeles, but it makes it more likely.

Questions from Pacific Palisades homeowners

Straight answers to what people here ask most.

Do you clean smoke and ash from a Pacific Palisades home that did not burn?

Yes. Smoke odor and fine ash can stay in the attic, the ducts, inside walls and in fabrics even when the fire never reached the house. We look at each room, clean what can be cleaned and tell you what should be replaced.

Do you rebuild homes in Pacific Palisades after the fire?

Yes. We do full rebuilds, from new framing to the final finishes, and the same company that cleans the home can build it back, so you do not need to hire a second contractor.

Should I check the plumbing before moving back into a Palisades home that stood?

Yes. Flush the pipes as LADWP asked when it lifted the Do Not Drink notice, then watch the water heater, the sinks and the ceilings under the bathrooms when the water comes back on. If you see a stain or a drip, shut the water off and call us.

Is it safe to clean ash myself?

Public guidance says to wear an N95 respirator, gloves, long sleeves and goggles, dampen the ash, wipe it with damp cloths and use a HEPA vacuum, never a leaf blower or a broom. If there is a lot of ash or soot, or the smell stays, call us.

How do I prepare for rain on the Palisades burn scar?

Check the county’s burn-area forecast for the Palisades before a storm, and if you live up Palisades Drive, know another way out: a mudflow closed it in January 2025. Clear ash out of gutters and drains before the first rain.
